I have three customers at any particular event. Each one has a different need. All want to walk away from the event impressed, invigorated, intrigued, Here are a few thoughts for each of you.
 

► To the Executive
You need a speaker because you want to inspire an audience to do something. You want them to change – or NEED them to change. You want your people to be fascinated, captivated or educated, most likely all three. In fact you’d do it yourself but maybe you think they need to hear something new or maybe from someone different. I’ve been in your executive shoes for years. I’ve had the same challenges and wanted the same thing. I understand leadership. I understand the need for change. I understand teams. You and I come from the same place.

► To the Researcher
You have been given, or if you’re crazy, volunteered, to find a speaker. You need a speaker to answer your questions. You need us to make you comfortable. You need material to justify your decision. You may need even more to present your final 3 for the executive to pick from. And above all - you need me to WOW that audience because if I don’t you’re going to catch hell from both sides. I also know that you don’t have the luxury of a rehearsal. The first time you’re likely to hear me will be live. Whatever I can do to make it easier I’ll do. ► To the Meeting Planner & Speakers Bureau
Wow, you have a tough job and I appreciate all you do. You need to choose me from a stable of hundreds. You need me there on time. You need my material on time. You need me to be flexible and considerate. You need me to take care of and impress your customer. I promise you all of that and more. Most of my business comes through you – thanks.

► To the Audience
You are desperately hoping that you are not going to hear the same old crap from another talking head that’s impressed your noble leader. I promise you that you will hear something different from me.
