A 75 step process for recovering

This page is for CAPS and NSA chapters looking for a speaker for their meeting or conferences. I want to give back to you what I stole from you – with interest of course! I want to return the 75 best, money-making, customer-satisfying, marketing and selling tips that I stole from you and 399 other speakers!
First let me explain how I became a thief. I asked 6,000 speakers to send me their marketing and sales material for the CAPS Ottawa Business Symposium. We received over 400 proposals! I was ecstatic! That is, until I had to sort through the marketing and sales material to decide who we wanted, and who we could afford - not necessarily in that order by the way!
In the vernacular of the Voyageur (my language) - to understand our customers we need to walk a mile in their moccasins! Well I walked in the moccasins of a customer. I went through the same emotions and frustrations our customers experience on their journey to find one of us. I was overwhelmed but realised I was receiving a massive education by default! WOW!

I didn’t want to waste what I was learning so I compiled every marketing and sales idea from every proposal. I then tested those ideas by asking bureaus, planners, speakers and direct customers what they thought. I deleted what they didn’t like - and kept what they said was useful to them. I now understood what they need, not necessarily what we wanted.
